The Lighter Side of Retirement
Welcome to The Lighter Side of Retirement, where Earl, his wife Dot, and their dog Tippy, and occasionally their friends Norm and Pastor Dave, take a humorous look at retirement, aging, money, faith, and the often bewildering experience of being a Christian trying to finish well in a world that can’t quite agree on what that means.
Each cartoon and accompanying article tackles a retirement- and stewardship-related topic with humor while still making (or still trying to make) a point.
The characters are fun and lovable, and each approaches things differently. Pastor Dave is younger but patient, kind, and genuinely wise. Norm is the poster boy for retirement magazines. Earl works hard at it and means well, but occasionally gets lost in the details. Dot sees things clearly, but often has a healthy degree of skepticism. And Tippy, named after a certain inflation-protected financial instrument, never misses a chance to offer his own thoughts and “tips”—he has thoughts about everything.
